Homework 1

Find definitions for the next idioms: playing with fire, barking up the wrong tree, taking forever and a day, beating around the bush, looking for a needle in a haystack, and putting the cart before the horse.
Because NOT all Students delivered the homework on time, an extension has been given. The notebook must be presented on September the 11th, 2009.
These students will NOT get a perfect score in the assignment.

Startegies for the Listening Part B Questions

Verify you copied correctly all the strategies. If you copied incorrectly, you will have to copy all 6 strategies again. Check carefully.
1. If you have time, preview the answers to the Listening Part B questions.

  • Anticipate the topics of the conversations you will hear.
  • Anticipate the questions for each of the groups of answers.

2. Listen carefully to the first line of the conversation. It frequently contains the main idea.

3. As you listen to the converastion, draw conclusions about the situation of the conversation: who is talking, where the conversation takes place, or when it takes place.

4. As you listen to the conversation, follow along with the answers in your test book and try to determine the correct answers.

5. You should guess even if you are not sure. Never leave any answers blank.

6.Use any remaining time to look ahead at the answers to the questions that follow.
